Pricing & ordering, explained.

How we calculate the cost of your embroidery, how repeat designs work, and what to expect once you've placed an order.

— How pricing works

1 How do you calculate the embroidery area for each design?

We measure the bounding rectangle of your design at the size you've chosen, in square inches. That figure is then rounded to the nearest whole number - 0.5 sq in or more rounds up; anything below rounds down. The rounded figure is what your per-layer embroidery fee is calculated from.

You can see the area live next to the size slider while you adjust placement, so there are no surprises at checkout.

2 Is there a minimum charge per design layer?

Yes. The smallest area we bill for is 4 sq in per embroidery design and 30 sq in per print.

If you size a design smaller than this, the preview will still show its true placement size, but the fee is calculated as if it were 8 sq in. This covers the time and machine setup needed to embroider any design, no matter how small.

3 Why is Outline Embroidery cheaper than Full Colour?

Outline embroidery uses a single thread colour to trace the lines of your design, with no fill stitches.

Because only one thread is needed and there's no infill, both the thread used and the machine time are significantly reduced - which is why we can offer it at a lower rate per square inch.

4 Why does Full Colour Embroidery cost more?

Full colour embroidery recreates your design with multiple thread colours and fill stitches to capture detail and shading.

That means several times more thread is used, more colour changes are required during stitching, and the machine spends considerably longer on each piece. The higher rate per square inch reflects the extra thread, time and complexity.

5 I had this design converted on a previous order. Do I have to pay the conversion fee again?

No - we won't charge you again. To reuse a design you've already had digitised, please:

  • Place the new order using the same account you used originally
  • Upload the same image as before
  • On the design conversion product, select either " Existing Outline Image" or " Existing Full Colour Image" - whichever matches what you originally ordered

We'll find the existing file in our records and apply it to the new order. There's no additional conversion fee when you select the same variant as your original order.

One thing to be aware of: we can't switch a design between Outline and Full Colour once it has been digitised — each style is a separate digitisation. Please select the same variant you chose the first time. If you'd like the other style, that will require a fresh conversion.

6 Will the preview match the real garment and thread colours?

No. The on-screen preview is intended to help you with placement, sizing and layout - not as a precise colour match.

Garment colours and thread colours can both look different on screen depending on your device, browser and lighting. We do our best to keep the preview as close to the real product as we reasonably can, but please treat it as a guide rather than an exact representation. The finished item may vary in tone.

7 How soon will I receive my first design proof?

For orders placed before 12pm on a working day, we aim to send the first design proof the next working day.

Orders placed after 12pm go into the queue the following working day, with the proof arriving two working days from the order date.

8 What are your working hours?

Our studio is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time.

We're closed on weekends and UK bank holidays. Any messages or orders received outside these hours will be picked up on the next working day.
